Meetup Description: Paella is one of the specialties at De Tapas (picture).

GREAT GRAZING:
The Spanish word "tapas" means a small portion of something appetizing, served with a beverage and eaten before a meal. But at De Tapas, it is the meal. According to the menu, tapas were first served in taverns and small restaurants in the Andalusia region of southern Spain, where a slice of meat was used to cover the wineglass to keep flies and other insects from getting inside. Fortunately, this is not the case here.

Begin your culinary tour with a glass of sangria ($3.50) – the sweet, homemade fruit-and-wine punch that would have been more interesting accented with a fresh fruit spear – and a glass of Marques De Riscal ($5 a glass; $22 a bottle), a dry, medium-bodied Spanish wine that would have been better with sweet dishes.

MENU:
Portions are generous, so two tapas per person should be adequate.
